File:Charles Théodore of Belgium.jpg[edit]

This looks very much like an AI "enhanced" version of File:Karel van België Charles de Belgique Karl von Belgien.jpg which was not declared as such, is not properly sourced and was inserted into several wikipedia articles. As this is an inferior duplicate of the original, it should be deleted and redirected to the original. Rosenzweig τ 13:16, 1 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Your argument is well-founded. --Polarlys (talk) 19:36, 1 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I’m not sure it is. That image does look better than the original. It would be good to find out how it was retouched. - Chris.sherlock2 (talk) 15:27, 23 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • Symbol keep vote.svg Keep We can house both. We alter images all the time, just properly attribute and categorize and show the original as we do when we crop. --RAN (talk) 04:27, 2 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
This is well beyond what is done here as "alteration" all the time. --Polarlys (talk) 18:52, 3 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
See: Category:Remini.ai retouched pictures and the other categories. The debate over storing them occurred over a year ago. The AI just does what we used to do in Photoshop. --RAN (talk) 04:38, 23 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • I think it is superior, the grain has been reduced and the image upscaled, the contrast and brightness have been adjusted. The only difference is that it was done in one-step automatically, rather than done in Photoshop by an individual. --RAN (talk) 02:04, 23 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • It would be very useful to know what person or software did the enhancement. If it is entirely done by AI there would be no copyright on the enhancement. If no, and if the uploader is not the person who did whatever other work was involved, there may be a copyright issue. If no copyright issue it's acceptable, but should certainly be noted as {{Retouched}} - Jmabel ! talk 02:54, 23 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The upscaling can't be done by hand. --RAN (talk) 12:26, 23 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ): Agreed, but that doesn't mean no hand-retouching was involved. Whatever was done should be made explicit. - Jmabel ! talk 15:20, 23 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • Contact the uploader directly, instead of us debating what he did or did not do. --RAN (talk) 15:25, 23 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
