Leadership and Management: Two Sides of the Same Coin

People often put Leadership above Management because they think Leadership is good and Management is bad.

Most of the time, we see Leadership as the next step up from Management.

But in reality, they are two sides of the same coin.

Leaders create the vision, set the direction, and inspire the troops.

Whereas Managers create the plans, drive the troops and ensure that the results are achieved.

These are two overlapping and intertwined roles, they are not totally independent.

Imagine how much you could achieve if you could do both roles: If you could create the big bold vision, and then drive your teams to successfully complete the goal.

There are many Leaders with great ideas, and there are many managers who can drive a team to success.

But there are very few people who can do both, and for many who can, they tend to drop the management aspect as it is actually the more difficult role of the two.

As we start out on the road to becoming leaders it often involves us being managers.

So why not continue to develop both sets of skills, if you’re both a great Leader and a great Manager, the world is your oyster.

If you can achieve that, then you can set the goals that you want to achieve, fully confident that you will successfully achieve them.
