User talk:Elonka
Welcome!
Hello, Elonka, and welcome to Wikimedia Commons. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- First steps
- Babel guide - Commons is truly international, here's how to handle some multilingual issues
- Commons FAQ - has some answers to common Commons questions
- The Community Portal - has plenty more helpful links
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you haven't already done so, you might also want to open an account on a Wikipedia in your prefered language, or one of the other Wikimedia projects. By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, drop a note on the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 12:23, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
Missing image tag[edit]
You forgot to add an image tag to Image:Pd AugustoCzartoryski.jpg. If not image tag is added, the image will be deleted (not by me, but by others...). I assuem you wanted to add the {{GFDL}} tag? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 12:24, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
- I hate to nag you about this, but Image:KimZetter2004.jpg this needs attention as well.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 02:07, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- No, I think you like nagging. :) But if you look closer, you will see that not only does the image need deleting, but that I am the one that flagged it for speedy deletion. It was posted temporarily as a licensing test. Elonka 03:57, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Hello! Please do not upload images which are not free to Wikimedia Commons, such as images with unknown sources, fair use images or images with unfree licenses. We only allow free licenses such as the GFDL or Creative Commons here. Have a look at Commons:Licensing for further information and Commons:Copyright tags for a list of license-tags you can use here. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page! --Conti|✉ 17:20, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, that one can be deleted... It should have been uploaded to the English Wikipedia, not the Commons. I'll flag it accordingly, thanks. --Elonka 18:13, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
Incorrect licensing[edit]
Please change the license tags to more appropriate ones. Please do not use spurious reasons for uploading photos to WikiCommons. Thuresson 12:58, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
- Image:CretzmeyerAthlete.jpeg - being more than 50 years old is not a reason for a photo to be public domain.
- Image:Cretzmeyer1984.jpeg - being a standard publicity photo (if it is) does not make this photo public domain.
- Image:Cretzmeyer1951.jpg - being a standard publicity photo (if it is) does not make this photo public domain.
Public Domain[edit]
Could you please write more detailed about sources to verify the license? --Panther 08:36, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi Elonka. Nice photo.
Please be aware, that by granting the GFDL license, you make it available not only for Wikipedia, but for anyone, to use for any purpose, under certain restrictions such as attribution and preserving the license tag intact.
Fred Chess 19:01, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- Replying: Yes, you can license other versions of your own work under whichever license you want to. Many good photographers do this. See for example the license of Image:Slik_pro_700DX.jpg. / Fred Chess 08:00, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
Request for permission[edit]
Hi. I have been asked to ask you for confirmation concerning the permission email you got from Whit Haydn. Please forward the email to permissions@wikimedia.org (the email will not be disclosed). In the email, please also mention these three images, so that the people can add a confirmation tag to them:

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

Hi,
Thanx for uploading image File:Abul_Fateh_with_Family_-_1977.jpg
Actually the purpose the image is not clear. Its not being used in any article. This file is not being used anywhere. Abul Fateh is a noted public and his other photo is there in wikipedia, this family photo was not used. I think it should be deleted. If you have your own view to keep it kindly discuss in here

File source is not properly indicated: File:Pd AugustoCzartoryski.jpg[edit]
This media was probably deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Pd AugustoCzartoryski.jpg, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (
[[:File:Pd AugustoCzartoryski.jpg]] ).
If you created the content yourself, enter If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 12:14, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

About the Love Land sculptures[edit]
Unfortunately, although the photographer has appropriately licensed his images, the subjects (sculptures) are still copyrighted and South Korea does not permit commercial reproductions of them. For reference, see Commons:Derivative works#f I take a picture of an object with my own camera, I hold the copyright to the picture. Can't I license it any way I choose? Why do I have to worry about other copyright holders? and Commons:Freedom of panorama#Korea (South). Jappalang (talk) 04:31, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

The files listed below, which you uploaded, have been tagged {{OTRS pending}} for more than 30 days. This tag indicates that an email setting out permission to use the file was sent to the OTRS team. Unfortunately, we cannot find any record that such an email has been received, and accordingly the file remains without permission. Unless the OTRS team receives evidence that permission has been granted within 15 days of today's date, the file will be deleted. If you have not sent the permission, please send it to "permissions-commonswikimedia.org" now. Please quote the file name in your email. If you have, please leave a message at the OTRS noticeboard, quoting the file name, so that a volunteer can follow this up. Alternatively, you can contact an OTRS volunteer directly.
