A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons from Flickr, File:Manifest Your Destiny (4054490433)a.jpg, has been reviewed by an administrator or reviewer and found available on Flickr under the license Noncommercial ( ), No derivative works ( ), or All Rights Reserved ( ), which isn't compatible with Wikimedia Commons, per the licensing policy. Unless the Flickr user changes the license to one that Wikimedia Commons accepts, the file will be speedily deleted. Commons:Flickr files/Appeal for license change has information about sending the Flickr user an appeal asking for the license to be changed. Only Flickr images tagged as   (CC BY),     (CC BY-SA),   (CC0) and   (PDM) are allowed on Wikimedia Commons. Once the license on Flickr is changed, you may replace the {{Unfree Flickr file}} tag with {{Flickrreview}} so that an administrator or reviewer can review the image again.

Hi Sardaka, your're right and I restored the file. If you upload a pic extracted from another here in Commons please use the {{Extracted image}}-template. According to the information you gave on the file page it was impossible for the flickr reviewer (and me) to see that you re-used a file with a valid licence here on Commons. Hello Sardaka, the following content you uploaded violates one or more of our policies and therefore has been or will soon be deleted:

File:PAVS 1017675023 d6cd6a7eb6 b.jpg

The Wikimedia Commons (this website) only hosts media files with a realistic educational purpose and that can be used for any purpose, including:
  • use in any work, regardless of content
  • creation of derivative works
  • commercial use
  • free distribution

See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.

Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial, to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions.

Yours sincerely, — Racconish💬 12:43, 26 January 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Naming conventionEdit

Hello Sardaka, could you please use more distinctive filenames? Names such as File:(1)Tawny Frogmouth-1.jpg and File:(1)Tawny frogmouth-1.jpg are really confusing. (Many of your files are listed here.)

My another question is, why do you use prefix (1) for your photos? It's also making mess in the category sorting as the brackets are sorted first. Regards — Draceane talkcontrib. 14:03, 6 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Another naming conventionEdit

Hi Sardaka - also please note, for bird (and other animal, and plant) categories, Commons uses scientific names, not English names. Thanks! - MPF (talk) 10:55, 6 October 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Ibis Randwick Pond 003.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

St Mary's Roman Catholic Cathedral PhotoEdit

Hi Sardaka

This is not Sydney. The GPS coordinates are correct and point to a map of Perth, Western Australia. I am not sure how the word Sydney got there. I did not upload the image directly to commons, I uploaded this and others through a special wiki media competition page for historical sites. It is possible that the process of uploading to the competition page and the files being placed in commons someone or something, indexed this against St Mary's in Sydney. This is an error, it should be St Mary's in Perth. By the way, the copyright status was assigned by Wikimedia, I myself (the owner of the work), am happy for this and the other 100 or so photos uploaded for this competition (dated 11, 12 and 13 September 2018 on my contributions page), to be placed in the Public Domain (for unrestricted use).

Sorry for any confusion.

Regards Travis

====================Edit

Hi. Am trying to clarify the situation regarding your photo,  . The description says it's St Mary's in Sydney, but it doesn't look much like the one in Sydney at all. Can we clarify this? FigbirdsEdit

Hi! In 2019 you uploaded some pictures of a figbird and put it in Sphecotheres viridis folder. Are you sure this is correct name of that bird? Sphecotheres viridis lives on Timor island only (Indonesia), not in Australia. Only Australasian figbird (Sphecotheres vieilloti) lives in Australia. Of course you could make your photos in zoo, but I suspect, it's just a mistake. Can you confirm it? Pikador (talk) 18:36, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

FilenamesEdit

Could you try to be a little more distinct with your filenames? It's ridiculous to have (for instance) file:(1)Noisy_Miner.jpg, file:(1)Noisy_miner.jpg, and file:(1)noisy_miner.jpg, which are three completely different images (although, to be fair, they are all Noisy Miners).

(As are File:(1)Noisy miner-2.jpg and File:(1)Noisy Miner-2.jpg, and File:(1)Noisy Miner 013.jpg and File:(1)Noisy miner 013.jpg, and File:(1)Noisy miner Kensington Park-1.jpg and File:(1)Noisy Miner Kensington Park-1.jpg, and... )

These are good images, it's just that better filenames will make them more accessible and usable. DS (talk) 18:57, 4 June 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Geo coords of File:(1)Nielsen Park002.jpgEdit

Hey there, I'm SHB2000 from the English Wikivoyage, and I just wanted to ask you the coordinates for this photo so I can add it to voy:Sydney Harbour National Park. If you don't remember, do you know where about is it in the park? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! SHB2000 (talk) 07:50, 11 June 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Little Ravens or Australian Ravens?Edit

Hi. I notice you have many great photos of ravens in Category:Corvus mellori. However, many of them are labeled as being in various parts of Sydney, meaning they're almost certainly Australian ravens (Corvus coronoides) and not Little Ravens (Corvus mellori).

I'm not an expert in corvid taxonomy but here's a quote from ebird on Identifying Australian Raven and Little Raven in south-east Australia:

"In New South Wales, both Australian and Little Ravens are widespread across much of the state. Australian Ravens are the only corvid likely to be encountered in Sydney although Little Ravens can be found on the western outskirts." — https://ebird.org/australia/news/identifying-australian-raven-and-little-raven-in-south-east-australia (it's actually an interesting page and worth a read and listen)

This video from BirdLife Australia says similar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a1LpK44saU

Would you be able to re-classify your photos? Have a good one. Cheers, Pengo (talk) 13:44, 24 November 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

(1)Train crossing Sydney Harbour Bridge.jpgEdit

The filename suggests that the focus is the bridge, but the description says:

This suggests that the focus is the girl. What were you trying to capture in this photo? Also, did the girl consent? Brianjd (talk) 14:39, 19 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
